I know this is an old thread but same concepts apply today as well..........I am in this situation:

I got a project on elance worth USD 2000 and 2 weeks timeline...an inventory management system....a complex project

One milestone of 50% was released after one week and then client started coming up with the requirements not in "scope and deliverables document" but were in the project description.

The day I gave him the "scope and deliverables document" he awarded the project without any discussion, deposited the money in escrow and I started working on the project.

After one week client came up with requirements not in agreed document and I told him that I will do these in next phase.

Now project is complete and he has expressed his dissatisfaction saying that its not as per his project description and has moved for project cancellation and is asking all money back... released as well as in escrow.

Just to avoid any confrontation I have accepted his version and expressed my willingness to implement the required features that were not in scope.

And Client is not responding.

Where I have gone wrong and what are the options with me and can elance get money that I have withdrew from them in my account in India.

I face such a situation often

Please help.

Thought of you yesterday when i was itemizing an out of scope list for the client. Called it "To Be Budgeted"

I totally agree! Thanks for the reminder Dan! We all need to hear this sort of thing once in a while (or daily). BTW, on that last project you were doing for us, I have a couple more minor requests... JK...

Seriously though, this lines up well with things like making sure the dev site has good content and is well configured so that your client can see that work is being done, or itemizing discounts on your invoices so that the client can see that they are getting a deal.

BuddyPress wasn't used on this project since the client didn't want to build out the social angle, however it would be relatively easy to incorporate BP into this theme/project.

I needed a integrous professional to build, implement and manage our website. He listened, asked questions and was able to put our combined thoughts into action. We are pleased with the product and service and will be using Dan for all of our future endeavors.

If Dan says he will do something, he will do it. He might not be the cheapest, but that's how it is when you want something done on time and and done to spec--it's not cheap. With Dan, the old adage you get what you pay for is definitely true. Hire Dan and you won't regret it
